Name This Movie Babe #1

Just for some diversion, this young actress is not a household name yet, so I thought I'd give her some free exposure.. who is this?

Metacritic's Top Ranked Female Directors

Just using the raw numbers, female directors with 3 or more ranked film were used and those numbers averaged together for the director rank overall. But this is not a very complete list: Metacritic only tabulated dramatic films after 1980, eliminating documentaries, comedies, and the films of Lina Wertmuller, first woman nominated for a best directing academy award, and Leni Reifenstahl, arguably the most influential female director of all time.

At any rate, here is their article with the tabulated results, my fave on the list is #6 Susanne Bier, from Denmark, #1 is another Danish director..

Strong Women in Films

Films either about strong women (Aliens, All About Eve, Auntie Mame, The King and I, Miss Jane Pittman) or coming-of-age stories (To Kill a Mockingbird, My Fair Lady, Walkabout, Whale Rider) I thought this was an appropriate July 4th topic as women got their 'freedom' after African slaves here, not allowed to inherit their husbands property until the late 1800's, and getting to vote well after that. Even New Zealand beat us there.. yikes! [Updated 10.10.10]
